Robert G. (Bob) BURDEWICK

BURDEWICK, Robert G. (Bob) of Dunedin, Florida, died on February 17,2013 at Hospice House, Palm Harbor, FL after a long bout with esophageal cancer. Born in Jamaica, N. Y., he grew up in Williston Park and moved from North Merrick to Dunedin, Florida in 1979. He was the Sr. Class President of the January 1951 Mineola High School graduating class and then enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He retired as a Sergeant from the Nassau County Police Department in 1979, after serving for 22 1/2 years, and moved with his family to Florida. He was a past president of the Superior Officers Association, PBA Secretary and Newsletter Editor. Also a past Vice-Pres. Of the Police Steuben Assoc., Life member of the Nassau American Legion Police Post 1050, member of the St. George Assoc., International Police Assoc. and a Life member of the VFW. A Korean War veteran served on the destroyer USS AMMEN and on the destroyer tender USS YOSEMITE and is a Life member of te Tin Can Sailors Assoc. Survived by his son James of Wesley Chapel, Florida, daughters Barbara Jensen of Dunedin, Susan Brooks of Tarpon Springs, Florida and Patricia Muenks of St. Charles, Missouri. Also six grandchildren. Arrangements made by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens, Palm Harbor, Florida.
