Doreathea Leona Milne

MILNE-Doreathea Leona Pistor passed away on Wednesday, November 15th at age 91. She was surrounded by her family and beloved caregiver, Fabiola Louis. Doreathea graduated from Memphum High School in Bellmore, New York and graduated with a summa cum laude B.S.N. degree in Nursing from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York in 1948 and later earned her Master's Degree in Nursing from Stony Brook. Upon graduation, her aim was to serve her country in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. The Second World War ended, and she began a fifty-year career in Nursing starting at Southampton Hospital. Her lifelong love of science subsequently led her to work at Brookhaven National Laboratory in the U.S. Government's top secret experimental program in nuclear medicine. She returned to hospital work at Riverhead and St. Charles hospitals and later transitioned to school nursing in the Longwood School District in order for her schedule to accommodate her three active children. Doreathea was always busy and giving, whether at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Red Cross or dozens of other faith and medicine based charities. While nursing was her passion and gift, her love of her husband of 67 years, Harry R. Milne, now 94, and her three children are what mattered most, and all those she loved knew it unquestionably. She always showed up for family, friends, and fun and for those in need. Doreathea and Harry enjoyed many years traveling and being members of the Nissequogue Country Club. Doreathea is survived by her son John and his wife Mary of Ashville, North Carolina and their three children, Laurel, Carolyn, and David; her son Harry and wife Maribeth of Darien, Connecticut and their three children Tyler, Mackenzie, and Christopher; and daughter Evelyn and her husband Harold Gregory Moore III of Dallas, Texas and their two children, Gregory and Catherine. Doreathea also had four great-grandchildren, Eva, Mia, Kye, and Harvey. Reposing at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 1001 Rt. 25A, Miller Place, N.Y.
