Was shocked to hear about Billy's passing. I knew Billy from CP, played with him on the CP Diamonds and alway thought of him as Superman. Without a doubt the best athlete I have played with or against in any sport. My prayers go out to his family.

Just received word of Bill's death.
I was with him through Mater Christi and Manhattan and counted him a friend.
He was a good athlete and stand-up guy.
My prayers today at Mass were for Billy and his family.

Just heard about Bill's passing in the St. John's / Mater Christi Alumni Newsletter. It caused me to pause and reflect on a great guy and to touch base with friends from those high school years - sometimes we wait too long to connect. Bill - though much too early - you have now found peace in the "field of dreams". Your memory lives on - meet you at Harry's Luncheonette before and after school. Miss you.

My condolences to the Hannafin family...I remember Billy as a powerhouse... the consummate all-around athlete as well as being a great guy. A rarity in this day and age.

His exit stage left, has not gone unnoticed and is truly a loss to all of us vibrating in the instant parallel universe...

Owed to Bill

O Billy boy,
You really tagged one this time...
A fungo to the moon indeed
With no return in sight.
As spectrums go to few decreed
In colors far so bright.

Your performance in the game of life...
Has finally reached its peak
Rewarding stellar due.
For the plane we mortals speak
Keeps us busy just to do.

The quantum holds the secret...
With pearls not often told
For those to keep you near.and dear
A lock and key of old, behold
Comes forth your spirit here

So fear not the final strikeout...
For eternity connects us all
To the innings of your past.
While trusting in the overall
Those glory days will last.

Bill was a wonderful and thoughtful neighbor. He was kind and intelligent, and he had a terrific sense of humor. The world has lost a good soul, but heaven must be shining a little more brightly. May God bless Bill's family and give them comfort.

May Bill be remembered as the great man that he was. He was clearly a great father who put his family and "Yankees baseball" before all else. He was a good friend and both liked and loved by many. May his family find peace at this sad and difficult time.

Bill was a fantastic man. I enjoyed many conversations and laughs with him over the past 5 years. He came into PSams once in a while and I was always happy to see him walk in the door. He will be missed.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
