GOODMAN - Claire, 86, of Denville passed away February 27th. Services will be held today, March 1st, at 12 noon at 1236 North Wellwood Avenue in West Babylon, NY, 11704 at the Star of David with interment to follow at New Montefiore Cemetery located at 1180 Wellwood Avenue in West Babylon, NY. A retired Glen Rock elementary school teacher, who taught over 25 years, Mrs. Goodman was a true "Renaissance Woman". An avid yoga enthusiast, she enjoyed playing the piano, initiating and conversing in political discussions and completing crossword puzzles, especially those in the New York Times, which she read regularly. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with her daughter Laura and Laura's family. She was an amateur poet and enjoyed reading, especially to her grandchildren. When her daughters were growing up, she was active as a Brownie, and then Girl Scout leader. Besides devoting herself to her career as an educator, she also devoted hrself to her family and her two miniature schnauzers. For the past 14 years, she lived in Denville. Prior to that, she lived in Paramus for 35 years and was married to the late Saul Goodman for 30 years. To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, they travelled to Israel with their whole family. Survivors include daughters Ellen Pearl (Alan), Laura Madara (Kevin) and Gail Atlas (Steve), as well as grandchildren Stephanie, Rebecca, Samantha, Jaclyn, Aaron, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Benjamin. In addition, she leaves many loving cousins and friends and was a loving sister-in-law. In addition to being pre-deceased by her husband Saul, she also lost her brother Seymour Rosenbluth.
