Saddened to hear of Srs passing..I will have fond memories of her, I was in the graduation class of '70' at St. Gabriel's in E. NY Bklyn. It would be her last year there; as she was moving on to be a principal at another school.

Always in my prayers and thoughts. Whenever I see/hear of a principal going that extra mile for his/her students, Sister Eugenia is there. She enabled me to become a better person and teacher.

I worked with Sister Eugenia for year at St Teresa of Avila on Sterling Place in Brooklyn and found that year a wonderfully renewing year. She was a leader with spirit, humor and determination. I am sorry to have lost touch over all the intervening ears but know she touched so many hearts over her life...and beyond.

Sister Eugenia Calabrese was a precious gem to many in our community in Brooklyn, New York. She worked tirelessly to show love and compassion to those in our troubled community in Brooklyn, New York in the 1970's and early 1980's. Sister Eugenia was giving of her time, resources, and gifts of love and mercy. I felt the love of Christ from her. She used to babysit me for my mother, before I became of age to attend Holy Spirit as an official student in Kindergarten. I was hoping to be able to reconnect with her and I was saddened to learn of her passing. What a lovely woman of God. Sister Eugenia is sorely missed by me and I am certain she will be sorely missed by those who's lives she touched, when they learn of her passing.

I was on the staff at Holy Spirit school in the 70's. What a down to earth principal. She loved her students so much. She worked with the parents and community to get every resource available for the students. She treated her faculty with respect and with a terrific sense of humor. I kept in touch with Sister Eugenia all through her years as Principal of St. Joseph HS. She lived life to the fullest. She will always be a great influence in my life.

I remember Sister Eugenia so well from her years as principal of St. Teresa's/Holy Spirit, Crown Heights. Sister was a fantastic principal. She was firm, fair, visionary, and interested in each and every person--student, parent, or teacher. She truly was the heart and soul of St. T's. I was also able to visit with Sister when she was principal at St. Joseph HS Downtown. She was a gem of an educator, and a tremendous credit to the Sisters of St. Joseph. Rest in peace, good and faith servant. May God send us three more young woman just like her. We need them!
