Peter Sagona Obituary

SAGONA-Peter, Sr., died Thursday, September 7, 2006, following a five-year battle with leukemia. Born January 23, 1927, in Brooklyn, son of Marion and Joseph Sagona. Raised and educated in Chicago, later returned to New York to live. Served our country during WW II with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a member of the Occupation Forces of Korea. Married Yolanda Giorlando, May 9, 1953. After a career as a teacher with the New York City Board of Education, Peter retired to Florida where he lived for 12 years before relocating to Forsyth County, Georgia. Surviving are his wife Yolanda of Gainesville, Ga.; son Stephen of Flushing, N.Y.; son Peter and wife Randi of Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren Robby and Kristi of Cumming, Ga. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.leukemia.org).
