Dr. Eckhardt was my psychology professor at CNR in the late 70's early 80's. What a gentle giant! He made us laugh and made the subject so interesting. My sympathy to the family.

Dr. Eckhardt was one of my psychology professors in college. A gentle, loving, and incredibly kind person, he was one of those teachers who stays with you long after graduation. He would fill his lectures with funny stories about his childhood and his life, and each story was so believable because they were so filled with his spirit, like when he was a tall-for-his-age young boy, and would run home after school and jump in his mothers lap because he was so happy to see her, and she had to gently tell him he was getting too big to do that. There was a kindness about him that you don't very often come across in the world. He was thoughtful, patient, and will be very greatly missed.

To the Eckhardt family. It was a privilege to know Rudy. We enjoyed his sense of humor and admired his kindness. We were sad to hear of Rudy's passing.

Thinking of all of the Eckhardts - your parents were so good to mine when my father became ill. I know you had many nice memories of your trip to Florida for the joint 25th wedding anniversary too. I remember when you all came and visited us at Camp Tek and working with Lorraine at mini-camps. My mother cherishes her friendship with Carolyn too. I will remember your husband and father as a very kind person who was pleasant to be around. - Clare Mertz

The College of New Rochelle and Ursuline community remembers Rudy in our thoughts and prayers. His was a long and gentle presence here.
