Just today I read some of my Grandfathers newspaper letters. WOW, he was a strong catholis. he had strong thoughts about being pro life. I loved him and wish he was still here. I hope he's having a decent time in heaven.

Bill,
What a gift you have given our family by taking the time to share your memories of our father this Christmas season. I can tell you that the man that you speak of before he had children, was the same man years later we called daddy. Our family really appreciates your thoughtful and much needed note. I hope you and your family have a new year full of blessings! Best regards, Chrissy Young

I remember Tom Dennelly from his first day teaching at Garden City Junior High in 1961. He taught me social studies for two years and had a substantial influence on my life. He engendered an interest in history, politics, and more importantly principles that would guide much of my thinking in the future. I particularly remember a debate on fallout shelters and his shock and sadness on the November day when JFK was killed. My life since Garden City has led to work for the US Forest Service and after 34 years in the agency I now develop national policy for the management of our national forests in Washington DC. I have often thought to look Tom up as the years went by to express my appreciation, but sadly this is the only way I can do this now.

Dearest Dad, Incomprehensible that a year has past since we lost you. Not a day goes by that we don't all feel your absence profoundly and yet we know absolutely that you are always with us. All of my love always,Pauline

I couldn't have asked for a better father-in-law. Tom always told me that he saw me as another daughter, and he truly made me feel that way. God bless you forever; you are loved and will be missed.

I did not know him personally but I too appreciated his strong witness to the faith.

A great guy who always had a kind word and a good story. He had a talent for making one feel welcome. He was truly a man who prepared for his life in eternity. A prolific writer who published over 1000 letters, much if it in defense of his Catholic faith and the unborn.

Please accept the sincere condolences of a stranger on the death of your husband, father and grandfather. I live in Maine now, but lived on LI until two years ago and I recognized Mr. Dennelly's name from his frequent contributions to the "Catholic conversation". He left his mark.
