To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

There are simply no words that could adequately describe this incredible woman and the life she led in service to her God, her Community, her family & her friends. Sister Jackie epitomized “Christianity” with a heart that was so full of genuine love, kindness, generosity and forgiveness. Her laughter and extraordinary spirit would always fill-the-room. The world is going to be positively dim in absence of Sister Jackie's light. This remarkable woman touched so many lives, I feel blessed that I am among the privileged.
There is comfort in knowing that Sister Jackie is now wrapped in the loving arms of our Savior with her beloved parents. My deepest condolences are extended to the Sisters of Mercy and her family; in particular, The Young Family who brought so much joy & happiness into Sister Jackie's life.

Sister Jackie, you will be greatly missed. You lit up the halls at OLMA. You planned such beautiful and memorable retreats and events for us girls and your office door was always open. You never judged anyone. God bless you for what you did for so many people. I am sure you are still shining; no longer among us, but down upon us.

Meeting Jackie in 1978, a while before she became Sister Jackie...who could forget those long pigtails and her camera slung around her neck?! She was at every parish and school event, so kind and caring, always a smile for everyone she met. My three children were in OLM from 1978 through 1989 when we left for AZ and I was an active parishioner who shared her love of photography too.
We have all been touched by her presence and we mourn the loss of her passing. RIP Sr. Jackie. Prayers and thoughts are with her family and her community.

A remarkable woman so full of energy and love and fun.I was blessed to know her during her tenure @ OLM Hicksville where we were always in discussion it seems concerming available facilities at the school and whether the Youth Council would be willing to sacrifice some time to the Youth Group! (We always did!)
She was a beautiful, warm, welcoming person and was amazing at getting the Youth Group to be a "cool" destination for teens.
She always had time for you despite being surronded by her young charges.
She once told me to give my son a "Chance" rather than being stern and also said that my daughter was set to do wonderful things in the world after schooling.
May God hold you in the palm of His hand Sr. Jackie. God Bless you for being the inspiring ,amazing person and role model you were.

I was so sad to read about the tragic death of Sister Jackie. Sister Jackie and I grew up together in the same neighborhood. We attended the same grammar school and played together often. We lost touch through the years. My parents would see her around town, and she would always ask about me. Last year, I received an email from her. She recounted many of the memories of our childhood. I always remembered how kind, cheerful and upbeat she was. She lit up the room. Sister Jackie will be sorely missed.

Sister Jackie was an amazing nun. I went to school on Long Island where she was a critical part of my education. She always had a smile on her face and a camera in hand.

Sister Jackie - You were the best. I knew you first as a neighbor around the block, then as "Jackie" at OLM - we loved you when you ran the Our Lady of Mercy youth group - you were such a fun and talented and enthusiastic person who loved sports, music, and kids. Who else could get teenagers to hang out at church - but you did by the droves! You always offered a listening ear and a big hug and that warm smile - I can still hear your laugh. Through all the car washes and bottle drives, the trips, retreats and ziti dinners, you were there. It was very special to be a part of your mass when you became "Sister Jackie". It was so awesome to reconnect with you on facebook. I was telling my daughter about you the other week and how tragic it was to hear of your passing. I am focusing not on how you died, but how you lived - as an example of love and devotion to others. I am sure you are rejoicing in the splendor of heaven and watching over all of your "kids". It was such a privilege to know you. Thank you for being you. I am grateful to have been able to call you "friend".

My daughter, Amy Yantorno (Sokoloski)was blessed to have had Sister Jackie in her life when she was a student at OLMA. As a parent, it is always comforting to know that someone else is nurturing your child in a school setting. All of the OLMA students who had the good fortune of knowing her are so blessed. Thank you Sister Jackie, and God bless you always. Rest in peace in heaven.
