Edward S. ORZAC Notice
ORZAC - Edward S., M.D., M.A., 95 years, died at home onDecember 9, 2012 after a long illness. He received his MD from the University of Virginia, a BA in History from Adelphi University and MA in Asian Studies from St. John's University. He served as a major in the US Army during WWII and received a Bronze Star and other decorations for his service. Dr. Orzac was a board certified Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist and continued to practice until he was 83 years of age. Edward Orzac was a Founder of Franklin Medical Center in Valley Stream, NY and the donor of the Orzac Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation at Franklin Medical Center. In addition to his many years as a doctor, he was an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at SUNY and Kasturba Medical School in Manipal, India, and an Adjunct Professor of Asian History at Hofstra University. He lived and worked in India for several months a year for more than twenty years and alo volunteered with Medico in Afghanistan in the early 1970's. He traveled the world with his wife and loved poetry and history. He was the author of two books about his journeys. He was the beloved son of the late Gertrude Wachtler Cohen & his late step-father, Charles Cohen; the Beloved Husband of Beatrice F. Orzac; the beloved brother of the late Sidney W. Orzack; the Beloved Father of: Caroline Orzac Shoenberger (Allen), Virgina Orzac Secemsky (Sol), and Elizabeth Orzac Yelen; the Beloved Godfather of Manjeet Kripilani; the Beloved Grandfather of: Gina Secemsky; Eric Secemsky (Neelam); Brian Secemsky; Elisa Shoenberger; Dana Yelen Ladani (Ofer);Tracey Yelen, and James Yelen and their father Arie Yelen; Beloved Uncle to Sandra Berman & Great Uncle to Meredith Lovejoy; and the Beloved Great-grandfather of Adam Ladani. He will be sorely missed by all the people who know him. Memorial Services will be held 10AM December 11 at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Hewlett NY. Contributions are requested, in lieu of flowers, to be sent to the Orzac Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation 900 Franklin Ave., Valley Stream, NY 11580.
