Barbara Claire Barker

BARKER - Barbara Claire (Aszody) age 81, Lead June Taylor Dancer and founder of the Barbara Barker School of Dance, of Sands Point on April 11, 2008. Daughter of the late Paul and Clara, beloved wife of Robert, loving mother of Jeffrey Stogner (Elvira) and Van Stogner (Sandra) and step mother of Robin Bridges. Adored grandmother of five grandsons, four step grand children, and greatgrandmother of one great grandson. As Babs Claire, she was the lead June Taylor dancer on the Jackie Gleason Show and danced on the Jimmy Durante, Milton Berle variety shows, and on Broadway in "As the Girls Go". She modeled in over 30 TV commercials in the late 50' and 60's and was featured in over 50 print advertisements during that period. She was a 44 year resident of the Sands Point, Port Washington, Manhasset area and was active in the Sands Point Garden Club, Manhasset Club, Music Study Club of Port Washington, and sang Soprano in the choir of the Congregational Church of Manhasset. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 19th at 10:30am at the Congregational Church of Manhasset, NY.
