MERLINO - Frank V. passed away in Nesconset, NY on Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Frank Merlino was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 6, 1938. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Brooklyn. Frank received his Bachelor's degree from St. John's University. He was a graduate of St. John's University School of Law, Class of 1962. After graduating, Frank embarked upon a long career with Allstate Insurance Company. Frank began his career with Allstate Insurance Company as a claims adjuster. He quickly rose to a management and executive positions in the claims department. In 1962 Frank married his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Kathleen Merlino (nee Davis). Together they settled in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn to raise their family. Frank was the proud father of six children: Joanne and Frank Orlando, Ann and Jack Juliano, Frank V. Merlino Jr. and Jennine, John and Margaret Merlino, James and Dawn Merlino and Michael and Jodi Merlino. In 1978 Frank and his family moved from Brooklyn to their home in Nesconset, NY. After raising his children and after more than 20 years in the claims department at Allstate Insurance Company, Frank decided to fulfill his dream of becoming a practicing attorney. In 1987 Frank passed the New York State Bar Examination more than 25 years after he graduated from St. John's University School of Law. He was admitted to the Bar of the State of New York in May of 1987. From there, Frank went on to become the attorney of record for Allstate Insurance Company until his retirement in December of 1999. As managing attorney, Frank was responsible for supervising and managing more than 100 attorneys. Frank was an avid baseball fan and, in particular, an enthusiastic Mets fan since 1962. But, Frank's true passion was his family. Frank was a devoted father to his six children. In August of 2007 Frank and Kathleen celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Frank was the adored grandfather to his 12 grandchildren: John Jr., Jimmy, Anthony, Alyssa, Michael, Kristi, Frank III, Sierra, James, Alexander, Andrew and Mason. He will be deeply missed by all. Reposing Moloney's Hauppauge Funeral Home, 840 Wheeler Rd. (Rte. 111) Hauppauge, NY where a wake service will be held Thursday 3:00pm. Funeral Mass Friday 9:45am Holy Cross RC Church, Nesconset. Interment following Pinelawn Memorial Park, Pinelawn, NY. Visiting Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9pm. moloneyfh.com
