BURCHARD - Gerard Lester III, March 2, 1948 - August 2, 2010 Jerry Burchard, musician and songwriter, passed away unexpectedly at home in Lakeside, California. Jerry was born on Long Island, New York and grew up in Garden City. He began singing and playing the piano as a child and professionally at the age of 16. His earliest band, '2 plus 2', was one of the first co-ed rock groups in the state. Jerry proceeded to play with Elliot Murphy's Aqua Show, the Epic Splendor, and the Good Rats, to name a few, at New York venues such at the 3 0 5, the Mercer Art Center, the Ember Room, The Blossom Lounge and the Bitter End. Jerry followed family out to San Diego in 1974. Jerry played on both coasts with special performances in Alaska and Los Angeles. Jerry was known for his infamous jam sessions drawing musicians from all over San Diego county. His best known recordings include Savannah Showtime, Sweet Mary Blues, Rainbow in Flight and Nigh Wind. Jerry is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters Tina of Lexington, KY, Sarah of San Francisco, Lisa and Laura of Lakeside, sister Carol of La Jolla, grandchildren Cameron andKayla of Lexington, KY, and a multitude of friends and cousins. Jerry's life was celebrated on August 13, 2010 at the VFW Hall in El Cajon, California.
