BADER - Doris S., 91, of Lake Ronkonkoma, (formerly of West Islip), on January 1, 2012. Beloved daughter of the late Robert and Mabel Bader. Loving first cousin of Sally Sheuerer and cherished second cousin of William Mahoney, Barbara Kane and Patrice Greaney. Retired from the Long Island Catholic newspaper. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Doris graduated from Flushing High School and attended St. Joseph's College for Women and Queens College. An enthusiasm for gardening was inspired by the grounds of the home in which she grew-up, a landmark house built in the mid 1800's known as the "Weeping Beech House" because of a historic and well-publicized tree on the property. She later applied that gardening interest to the grounds of her long-time home in West Islip, and to membership in the Sumpwams Garden Club. She had also been a member of the Queen of All Hearts Club, the Bay Shore Historical Society, the Babylon Business and Professional Women's Association, th Bay Shore Brightwaters Library Association and the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society. Family and friends may gather Friday, 9:30am, at Claude R. Boyd-Spencer Funeral Homes, 448 West Main Street, Babylon Village. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10:45am, at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Babylon. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale. www.boyd-spencer.com.
