Can't believe that it is a year since wonderful Dennis was taken away from his wife, children, family and friends. I was priviledged to have known Dennis since first grade at St. Michael's and then also remained close with him as we grew up together. We shared all our milestones in life - sacraments, graduations, holidays and parties at my house on Cleveland Street, engagement, wedding and unfortunately funerals. Dennis fought hard his whole life for everything but was rewarded with a great wife and sons that unfortunately lost him too soon. I visit Dennis' grave often because he is resting three rows from my cousin's grave and I still can't believe that I am paying my respects at a great friend's grave. Dennis gave so much humor, generosity and loyalty to all. I know he is resting in peace with his dad and brother Michael and all our other friends who also left too soon. Until we meet again - rest peacefully you deserve it. Pat Donnelly Catapano.

I met Dennis while working as a photographer at Sperry. I was standing on an old ladder on top of the building, photographing a radar antenna. As the wind shifted, I felt the ladder falling. Out of nowhere, some big guy grabbed me and asked if I had a death wish. That was the first time I met Dennis. We soon became very good friends, and was later asked to photograph his family's wedding and baby photos.

I remember needing a favor done in the Photo Lab but couldn't get a plumber. When I asked him if he could help, he said “no, you need a plumber…………..I'm a pipefitter, but I'll see what I can do”. The next day I had 3 plumbers in the Lab.

I have so many wonderful memories of Dennis that would be too long to list. He once showed up at my first appearance at a comedy club just to give me moral support.

After moving to FL, I flew in to JFK to visit my family, but had no one to pick me up. Dennis just happened to call me and said he was working out on the island, but would be there in 30 minutes to pick me up.

It has been such an uplifting and enriching experience to have known Dennis and have him in my life.

My sincerest condolences to Mae and his family. Dennis will always bring a huge smile to my face whenever I think of him

Dennis was the big brother I never had. As a kid he would be the only one who could beat me up, if anyone else tried they were in trouble. :-) As we grew up he was a friend and a mentor, he kept me out of a LOT of trouble. As adults we went our separate ways for a while but life had better plans for us since he ended up moving less than 3 miles from me. We once again were brothers. I will truly miss you each day, I will remember your ever present smile. And I will keep your memory alive as long as I live. I truly do love and miss you. You are Truly irreplaceable. Rest peacefully

I first met Dennis when I was 16 and he was 15. He has been my very best friend ever since. My former wife & I introduced Dennis to his lovely Mae, and they were living the dream of 'happy ever after' until he was taken away from us. Dennis was to be the Best Man at my wedding this October, we have cancelled it until April, and while Mae will still stand up for me as well, I have now asked his oldest son, Dennis, to stand in for his Dad. I have a hole in my heart that will never heal. Dennis was all that every man aspired to, he was a man with a golden heart. My heart cries for his dear ones, Mae, Dennis & Joey, Mary, Kevin, AnnMarie, Erin and Sheila. I am a much better man for having known Dennis McClaffety and will carry his memory in my heart until the day comes that we meet again.
