Eileen KAVANAGH Obituary

KAVANAGH - Eileen, of Bay Shore, LI on August 13, 2012 went to be with the Lord following a long bout with cancer. She was 66. She was preceded in death by her parents Rondzo and Mary and is survived by her brother Eugene. Eileen was born in Brooklyn and moved to Farmingdale in 1956. She graduated from Queen of the Rosary Academy and Ladycliff College. She received her Library Science Degree from Columbia University. Eileen was employed by the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library since 1970 and had been the director since 1976.Among the many awards she received was being voted Citizen of the year by the Bay Shore Chamber of Commerce. A memorial visitation will be held at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy. (1/4 mile west of the Robert Moses Cswy.) on Thursday 7:00PM until 9:30PM and Friday 2:00PM until 4:30PM and 7:00PM until 9:30PM. Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial Saturday 11:30AM at St. Patricks R.C. Church, Bay Shore, LI. A cremation was held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library, 1 South Country Road, Brightwaters, NY 11718.

Eileen will be missed more than you know.
She was a caring, giving person whom always put others before herself.
