Joyce Lee DeVore, 79, of Ripley, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at Southwest Regional Medical Center in Georgetown. She was a homemaker, a member of the Ripley Church of Christ and the women for Christ, the Courts Fussnecker American Legion Post 367 Auxiliary and a 22 year member of the Ripley Lions Club where she received the Melvin Jones Award. Joyce was born April 18, 1935 in Maysville, Ky. the daughter of the late Harlan and Ruth (Craycraft) Howell.
Mrs. DeVore is survived by her husband of 61 years, Harry "Bud" DeVore, whom she married Nov. 23, 1952; four children – Harry DeVore, Jr. and wife Loretta of Ripley, Nancy Pfeffer and husband Alan of Ripley, Melissa Zureich of Durango, Colo. and Melinda Daulton and husband Mike of Ripley; eight grandchildren – Ryan and Randi Pfeffer, Jackie and Jake Zureich, Arron and Nick DeVore and Clinton and Carlee Daulton; four great grandchildren – Haley, Blake, Kinley and Winter DeVore; three sisters – Phyllis Gifford of Ripley, Shirley Cox and husband Mike Guadagnolo of Florida and Harlene Carl of California and one brother – Ben Hawkins of Franklin Furnace, Ky.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Cahall Funeral Home in Ripley. John Neu will officiate. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Red Oak Cemetery near Ripley.
