Robert Kerstiens, 81, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, in the Auburn Health Care.
He was born Oct. 27, 1931, in Loretto, Tenn., a son of the late Henry I. and Regina Beyke Kerstiens. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kerstiens was preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Kerstiens, Grandson Gregory Kerstiens; his sisters, Magdeline Rohling and Marie Patt, and his brothers, John Burnard Kerstiens, James Henry Kerstiens and Richard Clarence Kerstiens.
Mr. Kerstiens was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and retired from the TVA Paradise Steam Plant. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Russellville and was a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Navy.
Funeral Mass was held Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Bob Drury officiating. Burial followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation began Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 5-8 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel.
Pallbearers were Stephen Kerstiens, Blake Kerstiens, Adam Kees, Ben Kees, Mike Wamble and Ethan Wamble. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Boyles, Jim Rohling, Charles Kerstiens, Frieda Christmas, Kirk Thorlton, John Patrick Wamble and Luke Wamble.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Kerstiens; his sons, Patrick Kerstiens and Beverly of Russellville and Greg Kerstiens and Marilane of Russellville; his daughter, Carol Kees and John of Russellville; his sister, Josephine Hollman of Loretto, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Stephen Kerstiens, Blake Kerstiens, Adam Kees, Ben Kees and Heather Wamble, and his great-grandchildren, John Patrick Wamble, Ethan Wamble and Luke Wamble.
