Dr. N. Barrett "Barry" Self

Dr. N. Barrett "Barry" Self, 66, of Springfield, Tenn., died Tuesday November 12, 2013 at NHC Healthcare in Springfield.

Dr. Self was born February 5, 1947 in Juneau, Alaska. He was a graduate of Lipscomb High School, Lipscomb University, and Tulane Medical School. He served his residency at the University of Alabama Birmingham, and practiced medicine as a Pediatrician in Clarksville, and then in Springfield until his retirement. He was a member of Woodmont Hills Family of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Self; his first wife, Sandra Taylor Self and his sister, Devereux Self.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday November 13th at 4 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Rushing officiating. Interment was held on Thursday November 14th at 11 a.m. in the Berea Cemetery in Russellville. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Rushing, John Hagan, Brad Van Vleet, Morgan Smith, Dr. Randy Smith, Keith Barbee, Clay Barbee, and John Orndorff.

Dr. Self is survived by his wife Gigi Orndorff Self of Springfield, son, Dr. Zachary Self and wife Josefina of Guatemala; daughters, Rebecca Fischer and husband Andy of Euless, Texas, Andrea Self of Birmingham, Ala.; mother, Charlette Self of Nashville; sister, Sandy Smith and husband, Dr. Randall Smith of Tullahoma, Tenn.; grandchildren, Abby and Jonathan Fischer, Andrea and Natalie Self

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Dr. Zachary Self Non-Profit Medical Clinic in Guatemala. All donations can be sent c/o Robertson County Funeral Home.
