Stanford Murphy, 88, of Bowling Green, passed away Oct. 23, 2013, in the Greenview Medical Center in Bowling Green.
He was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Logan County, a son of the late Virgil Garland and Cleo Pickett Murphy.
He was a Baptist Minister and served Kentucky and Illinois for many years. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel with Brother Wilbur Powell and Brother Bob Barnes officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation began at the funeral home Friday, Oct. 25 from 12 p.m. until time of service.
Pallbearers were Fred Alcott, Freddie Powell, Kenny Chyle, Myron Callaham, Joe Lee and Carl Sollinger.
He is survived by his sons, Stanford Alan Murphy of Auburn and Foster "Tinker" Murphy and Paul Murphy, both of Bowling; his daughter, Ane Murphy of Auburn; his sister, Louise Powell of Russellville; six grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.
