Doris L. Fugate

Doris L. Fugate was born on January 21, 1924 in Logan County to the union of the late Clentie Fugate Sr., and Rosa Turner Fugate.

He departed this life peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at the Covington Convalescent Center in Hopkinsville. Doris had eight siblings of which four brothers, Samuel, Clentie Jr, Odell, George and two sisters, Rosetta and Alice, preceded him in death.

At an early age, Doris professed his belief in God and later became the eldest deacon of McCarroll Hill Baptist Church where he served religiously until his death. He loved farming, raising livestock and particularly enjoyed raising tobacco.

He also enjoyed being around young people as he later served as a Janitor at Hopkinsville Middle School and Sinking Fork Elementary School. He was united in marriage to the late Jane Ellen Kimbrough on June 25, 1949, left Logan County and relocated on the Dawson Springs Road in Christian County. This loving union was blessed with four children.

Doris Lon Fugate leaves to cherish his loving memories, two daughters- Anita Fugate Simmons and Maxine Fugate Davis both of Hopkinsville, two sons- Dorris (Kathy) Fugate Jr., of San Bernardino, Calif., and Danny (Earlie) Fugate of Paducah. One Sister Fannie Holmes of Chicago, Ill., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Service for Mr. Doris L. Fugate will be Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 11am at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinsville. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday June 2, 2014. Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Russellville.
