James Edgar "Jimmy" Chesnut, 68 of Brookhaven Drive, Russellville, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at his home. He was a Todd County native born March 27, 1946 to the late Tandy P. Chesnut and Betty Mason Chesnut. He was a Vietnam Army veteran and member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ of Russellville where he was an Elder and past Chairman of Board of the Church, past Chairman of Board for Bowling Green Federal Credit Union. He was also a licensed funeral director and embalmer.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Williams Chesnut; son, Phillip Tandy Chesnut (Amy) of Paducah; mother in law, Nita Williams of Russellville; and grandchildren, Carson F. Chesnut and Miles D. Chesnut.
He was preceded in death by his brother, David M. Chesnut.
Funeral Services for James Edgar "Jimmy" Chesnut will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Summers and Kirby Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Wright and Rev. Kyle Harris officiating with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will begin Friday, May 16, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home until the funeral hour of 11 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the First Christian Church Disciples of Church Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available.
Pallbearers are Wendell Jackson, Jay Slaton, Billy Goley, Ray Clark, Jack Batchelor and Tom Mason. Honorary Pallbearers are the elders of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
