Gracie Mae Sumner

Gracie Mae Sumner, 92, of Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at her home.

She was born July 28, 1921, in Muhlenberg County, a daughter of the late Tom Kirby and the late Erdeen Jenkins Kirby. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sumner was preceded in death by her husband, Carson Ray Sumner; her son, Danny Sumner, and her brothers, Elmo Kirby, Robert Kirby and Ed Kirby.

Mrs. Sumner was a homemaker and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at Price Funeral Home with the Reverend Larry Chapman officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Butler County. Visitation began at the funeral home Friday, Nov. 29 after 5 p.m.

She is survived by her son, Charles Sumner (Redha) of Lewisburg; her daughters, Linda Sue Chapman (Larry) of Lewisburg and Lena Milam (Larry) of Bowling Green; her brother, Roy Kirby (Genevive) of Owensboro; her sister, Helen Daugherty; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special care givers Hope Chapman and the Hospice of Southern KY and special friends, Darrell and Becky Skipworth and Jimmie Gilliam.
