John Hayse Brown, 83, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Covenant Hospice at Bay Medical. Mr. Brown was born in Tennessee, and lived in Bay County since 1972. He retired from the USAF at the rank of MSGT after 22 1/2 years service. He then worked as manager at Cleveland Electric Company until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Brown was a longtime, faithful member and deacon of Eastside Baptist Church, and was a member of VFW
Post 8285 in Wewahitchka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amsel and Vera Ann Brown; beloved parents-in-law, Sherman and Ethel Yerby; brothers, Emmitt, Thomas, and Howard Ross Brown and sister, Thelma L. Sloan.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Jean Brown; his children, Michael H. Brown (Darby) of Panama City, Douglas E. Brown (Christy) of Lynn Haven, Ronald A. Brown (LaDonya) of Wewahitchka and Patricia J. Thoma (Allen) of Panama City; brothers, Raymond Neal Brown and Kenneth Andrew Brown and sister, Margaret A. Williams, all of Tennessee; his grandchildren Kresta Littleton (Joe Michael), Heather Gartman (Jeff), Chad Brown (Krystal), Trey Brown, Kelsie Raffield, Lindsey Yielding, Taylor Yielding, Courtney Wilson (Joe), Robert Brown, Daniel Thoma, Ryan Stinson (Storm) and Cara Downing (Triston); 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended church family.
Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Russell Ward officiating. Interment with military honors offered by the US Air Force Honor Guard will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Brown's grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. Asked to serve as honorary bearers are Clark Stream, Joe Freeman, Paul Adams, Charles Bush, Edward Yerby, Doug Burch, Paul Mason, Willie Williams and Sam Morrison.
