Joseph J. Bavetta


Joseph J. Bavetta, 85 of Panama City Beach passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Bavetta was born September 13, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Salvator and Emma Bavetta. Mr. Bavetta honorably served in the United States Marine Corp for four years and the New York Police Department for 20 years achieving the rank of detective. He was a Professional Basketball referee. Mr. Bavetta and his bride of 60 years, Marilyn Ward Bavetta moved to Panama City Beach in 1981. He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, he loved playing golf and coaching football.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ward Bavetta of Panama City Beach; two sons, William Meyler (Rose) of Belmar, NJ, Allan Bavetta of Burney City, CA; two daughters, Lori Larson (Christopher) of Frederick, MD, Donna Kovarick (Robert) of Panama City Beach, FL; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Bavetta (Paulette) of Ocala, FL.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 2925 Martin Luther King Blvd. Hwy 77 N. Panama City, FL 32405.Expressions of sympathy may be submitted or viewed at www.southerlandfamily.com.
