Kurt P. Brand(April 12, 1934 - May 18, 2013)

Kurt P. Brand passed away on May 18, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., and attended Michigan State University. He was a sergeant in the Marine Corps, and served in the Korean Conflict. His career in banking began in Jacksonville, Fla., with the Florida National Banks of Florida, Inc., continued with the Division of Banking in Tallahassee and Commercial Bank and Bay Bank in Panama City, and ended with FDIC/Resolution Trust Corp.

During his career he served as manager of the Lake Placid Club Resort in Lake Placid, NY. He served on many boards during his time in Panama City Beach, including the United Way, Boy Scouts of America Bay County Chamber of Commerce, Bay County Motel and Restaurant Association, and was a charter director of the Seafood Festival Committee and of the PCB Chamber of Commerce. I le served as the first executive director of the PCB CofC. He was awarded a lifetime membership in the Bay County CofC. He was elected the American Business Women's Association "Boss of the Year" in 1981. He was a gifted story teller and everyone loved to hear about his life experiences. He loved boating, fishing, and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Clara and Paul Brand, and a brother, Eddie. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Nancy, two daughters, Leslie Coleman and Monica Brand, four grandsons, Corey Stephens, Kurt Stephens, Trevor Coleman, Tyler Coleman, a brother, Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 22, from 2-4 p.m. at 3634 Long Road, Southport. Friends and family are invited.
