Maurice Gary Bunch, Sr. passed away on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at 68 years old. Although Gary was born in New Castle, Henry County, Ind., on Jan. 26, 1945, he had been a life-long resident of Panama City, Bay County, Fla., moving here in 1961 with his mother, Betty Jane Adams, and step-father, William Kermit Bunch, who served in the Army
. His step-father legally adopted Gary as his own son in 1955.
Gary was a graduate of Bay High School Class of 1963 and married his wife of 49 years, Lisa, on June 21, 1964. He became a communications specialist with St. Joe Telephone and Telegraph Company, which later became General Dynamics, where he worked for more than 30 years. Prior to his health conditions, which limited the active lifestyle he enjoyed, he loved to hunt and fish, camping with family and friends, collecting all kinds of memorabilia and adored his old classic cars. In 2000, Gary retired after a triple bypass heart surgery and subsequent diagnosis of type II diabetes. He departed due to recent findings and complications of lung cancer. His transition was peaceful and relatively painless, with his wife and family surrounding him.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, William Kermit Bunch and Betty Jane Adams Bunch.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ramona Davis Bunch of Panama City, Fla.; his three children, Sally Renee Bunch Peterson of Middletown, Calif., Maurice Gary Bunch, Jr. of Panama City, Fla., and Russell Aaron Bunch of Middletown, Calif.; his five grandchildren, Christopher Allen Bunch, Nicholas Ryan Peterson, Zackary Aaron Peterson, Michael Ryan Bunch and Braxton Tyler Bunch; and his two great-grandchildren, Olivia Nicole Bunch and Bailey Marie Bunch.
The family with receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at 2 p.m. Both services will be at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
