Was surfing the internet today to look up people I served with in the US Navy and was saddened to find the news of Dewey's passing. We served alongside each other on the USS Peleliu in the early 1990's and I fondly recall him and another friend (Scott Byrd from Alabama) inviting some Midshipmen nursing students to our 4th of July BBQ on July 3rd, 1993. As luck would have it, after 30 years I am still married to one of those nursing students. Dewey will forever be in our hearts. RIP Shipmate!

Just found out 10 yrs later. Dewey changed my perspective on so many things in college. He lived with me for several months in 2001. We then did Larping in Atlanta, traveled to the beach several times, did concerts when he performed, spent New Years once in pc beach for a night, i loved this guy!! We met at an art class at FSU. Any family that would like to reach to me, Id welcome it. Miss this guy! I was surfing the web trying to find him today to say hi.

The last time I saw my cousin Dewey he was about 8 years old. He was a cool kid then and by everything that I have read and heard about him in the last week he was an amazing man. I will keep you in my many thoughts Uncle Dewey, Aunt Julie, and My Aunt Donna and Lisa and Sean. God gave Dewey a passion for the ocean and each day he was able to celebrate that gift. God Bless you everyone and know that Dewey will always be within you to warm your soul.

Such fond memories are still alive of two very young people stepping out into the world for the first time. If only I could have been the woman at 19 that I am at 35. He was loved dearly and has always kept a special place. I am so proud to see all he has done in this world.
Donna, Lisa, Sean, Jeff and the rest of the family, please know that I pray tonight that God will blanket you in His comfort and peace!
In time, I would love to send you a letter I recently found that Dewey had written from Somolia, you would be very proud to have it.
Peace be with you,
Crystal and the Neal Family
