Charles Douglas Mabry, 83, of Panama City , passed away Monday, December 2, 2013.
He was born the son of Frank and Ruby Mabry on July 1, 1930 in Albemarle, North Carolina.
Charles served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant and Fire Chief of his flight line after serving nearly 23 years. After his retirement, he joined the Bay County School Board where he served as Safety and Fire Inspector before retiring with more than 15 years of service. He was a loving husband and father and dedicated family man. He enjoyed college football, especially his beloved Auburn Tigers.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Wynell, his son, Charles "Duke" Mabry, Jr. and sister, Della Rose Tolbert.
He is survived by daughter, Donna Holloway, brothers, Ted Mabry and John Mabry, and his sister, Judy Marcus, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Mitchell officiating. Pallbearers will be Tom Davis, Curt Norris, Ryan Norris, Randy Davis, Lyle Becker, and Stanley Norris. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, December 6, 2013, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ira Lindsey Masonic Lodge and the Care Van Unit of the Shaddai Shrine Temple. Interment with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard and Masonic Rites rendered by the Ira Lindsey Masonic Lodge will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The Lodge will be open one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Care Van Unit/ Transportation Fund of the Shaddai Temple, 1101 W. 19th St., Panama City, FL 32405.
