Gerald "Jerry" Deforge, our beloved husband and father, passed away on Friday June 21st, 2013, at home surrounded by family.
Jerry was born in Chicopee, Mass., on October 29, 1939, to Arthur and Viola (Maziarz) Deforge. Jerry joined the Navy and was stationed in Pensacola where he met his future wife Arlon Bell. After getting out of the Navy, Jerry and Arlon lived in Graceville, Fla., for several years. He was transferred to Ft. Payne, Ala. with the Van Heusen Corp., where they lived for 37 years and raised their 3 children on Lookout Mountain. In 2003 they moved to Chipley, Fla., to be closer to family. Jerry was a wood craftsman who loved to spend time outdoors, especially fishing. He was also a huge Braves fan and Alabama football fan, "Roll Tide!"

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Viola Deforge; brother, Edward A. Deforge; and sister, Constance F. Moreau.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Arlon Deforge of Chipley, Fla.; 2 sons, Larry Deforge of Blakely, Ga., Gary Deforge and wife Dulcie of Pleasant Garden, NC.; daughter, Lana Williams Lipscomb and husband Chan of Panama City, Fla.; sister: Theresa Pielka of Holyoke, Mass.; 4 grandchildren, Trina Deforge of Savannah, Ga., Drew Deforge, Evan Deforge, and Reece Deforge all of Pleasant Garden, NC; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Memorialization will be by cremation with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice.

Family visitation will be held on July 2nd at New Life Fellowship, Chipley Florida from 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will follow from 7-7:30 p.m.
