Guy Charles "Butch" Whitman, 73, of Panama City Beach, FL, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, peacefully at his home after a hard battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1939 in Flint, MI to the late Guy and Della Whitman. Guy worked for General Motors in Flint, MI for 30 years, retiring and moving to Panama City Beach in 1995. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Cory Allen Whitman, a grandson, Brett Whitman, a brother, Jerry Whitman, and a brother-in-law, Ed St. John.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sharleen Kearns Whitman of Panama City Beach; 5 children, Guy Whitman, Jr. (Cheryl) of Michigan, Sherry Denter (Kevin) of Texas, Scott Whitman (Lori) of California, and Drew Whitman (Lisa) and Brad Whitman, all of Panama City Beach; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Whitman of Michigan; adopted family member, Rich McClanahan; his grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Colleen, Christopher, Lynn, Tiffany, Ryan, Austin, Drake, Kyra, Whitney and Brittney; 5 great-grandchildren, Brennan, Hayden, Joshua, Haley and Taylor; his sisters, Sue Adkins (Ray), Joan St. John and Shirley Dowling (Charlie), and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of Guy's life for his family will be held at his residence Sunday afternoon. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 28, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Panama City Beach on Cobb Road with Dr. Jerry Weaver and Rev. David Jackson officiating.
