Leslie Miller "Bubba" Gilbert, Jr. died in his home on July 17, 2014.

He was a graduate of Bay High School and the University of Florida. He served in the Florida National Guard for 6 years. Leslie Miller Gilbert, Sr. established the L.M. Gilbert Co. in 1940. Leslie Miller Gilbert, Jr. joined the family business after college. He was a local business icon and visionary. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, playing the piano and he was a licensed aviation pilot.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Miller Gilbert, Sr.; mother, Mary Louise Pittman Gilbert; and nephew, Wesley Jack Annis, Jr.

He is survived by his sister, Joan Gilbert Annis; nephew, Steven Craig Annis; niece, Leslie Annis Pennel; and his good friend for 46 years, Michael Wesley Krall, who is manager of L.M. Gilbert Co.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 – 1 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the , PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 in loving memory of Bubba Gilbert.
