Zoraida "Alice" Calhoun, 82, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Tampa, Fla.. to Zola and Miguel Perez. She met and married John "Jack" Calhoun in 1955 and thus began a life long romance, adventures, and travels as the wife of US Air Force soldier. Zoraida is a member of the Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Rollin and George VanGorder, her daughter, Frances Heitkamp; granddaughters, Kimberly and Julie Vinson; great grandsons, Michael John and wife Lauren, Austin Lee, and Larry Anthony.

She is preceded in death by her husband John G. Calhoun, and sons, John D. Calhoun and infant son Michael, and her beloved son-in-law, Luke Heitkamp.

Among the many career fields Mrs. Calhoun held during her lifetime, her favorite and most loved was her 30 year career in law enforcement as a police dispatcher and eventually a certified police officer with Callaway PD. Mrs. Calhoun enjoyed many hobbies such as singing, artwork, crocheting, and playing pinochle with her NCOW club friends. She was an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and loved nascar. She was a member of various organizations such as NCO Wives Club, Eastern Star, and Agape Temple Daughters of the Nile.
