Adell Young Gainer, 81, of Panama City, Fla., died on Feb. 9, 2010, at the Bay Medical Center.

Adell was the youngest of 13 children born to John and Minnie Young. Eleven of her siblings preceded her in death, Joe (Rachel), Mary Belle (Mr. Lester), Roberta (Johnny Pelham), Willie B. (Laretha), Ester (Farmer Gervin), Rose Ellen (Joe Howard), Minnie Lee (Buster Fuller), Ruthe Lee (Willie "Bo" Johnson), Isaac (Berdell), Naiman (Jon) and StrawLee (died in infancy).

She is survived by her brother, Little John, aka "LJ," (Martha, deceased) Young who resides in Oakfield, Ga.; her grandchildren, John of San Bernardino, Calif., Joel, Jonathan and Tiffany of Los Angeles, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews who will miss her warm smiles and kind words.

Adell was married to Ezell Gainer for over 40 years. He was devoted to her until his death in 1991. She was the mother of one son, John L. Brannon, who preceded her in death.

Adell loved her family and moved to Warwick, Ga., in Sept. 2008 to be closer to her family. She relied heavily on her great-niece, Patrice "T.C." Washington, to take her to her appointments and to help her with day-to-day tasks. She was able to spend time with her brother and re-connect with several family members she had not seen for a while. She began to miss her home and talked about returning home after a year in Georgia. Her niece, Leila (Charles,) was always responsive to her wants and moved her back to Panama City on Dec. 22, 2009. She was pleased to be back in her own home, the home Ezell built for her.

Adell dedicated her life to Jehovah and symbolized it with a water baptism in Dec. 1968. She was devoted to her faith and loved her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall. She often talked of the love and support she felt with the other Jehovah's Witnesses.

Memorial services for Mrs. Gainer will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Charles Robinson officiating. Public visitation will begin today from 1 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to memorial services at the Kingdom Hall.
