Dr. Betty Sutton Ennis, 74, of Panama City, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013.
Betty was a graduate of Bay High School and George Washington University. She served in the US Army and was a member of the White House staff, serving under President Kennedy. Ms. Ennis went on to work at the Pentagon, and then moved back to Panama City in 1970 to raise her family and work in the community. She furthered her education and received a Doctorate in Religious Education. Her life was dedicated to her family.
Ms. Ennis is preceded in death by her parents, Roy Watts Sutton and Tera Strickland Walters; her stepfather, James Burke Walters; and a brother, Herman Strickland.
She is survived by two children, Betina R. Grier and Christopher T. Ennis; four grandchildren, Eric Robert Breeden, Amanda Rae Ennis, Zachary Aaron Breeden and Kenneth Jake Hendon; three siblings, Jeanette Pate (Jimmy), Larry Walters, and Cindy Banks (Johnny); and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Chapel, with Dr. Johnny Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers will be Tony Collier, Jeremy Hines, Jarrod Jernigan, Jeffery Jernigan, John Spittler, Zachary Breeden, and Eric Breeden. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Jimmy Pate.
