Doris "Elaine" Kelley Allgood, originally from Elk Garden West Virginia and a resident of Panama City, Florida for 40 years passed peacefully to begin her journey in heaven with her family by her side on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Born on June 22, 1949, to Donald and Regina Kelley, Elaine was the 3rd of eight brothers and sisters. Elaine attended Elk Garden High School in WV. In 1971, Elaine started her career as a telephone operator at C & P Telephone Company in Arlington, VA, then transferred to Southern Bell in Panama City. Elaine began serving her country in 1982 as a civilian in the Department of the Air Force for 29 years of civil service, earning numerous awards. She thoroughly enjoyed her many years of service, and met many friends along the way. Elaine retired from civil service in April 2011 and her hobbies include spending time with family, children, and grandchildren, helping others, and vacationing in West Virginia, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father, Donald Kelley and brother, David Kelley. Elaine is survived by her mother, Regina Kelley of WV, sisters Diane Thompson and husband Ronnie of WV; Sharon Kelley of WV; Debbie Evans and husband Paul Evans of WV; Susie Baker and husband Brian of VA; brothers Donald Kelley II and friend Cathy Kelly of WV; Danny Kelley and friend Sally Elliot of WV; children Cindy Allgood Middleton Keifer and husband Bob of Navarre, Florida, Jeff Allgood and wife Mandy of Gulfport, Mississippi; and grandchildren Dakota Middleton, Tyler Allgood, Makayla Johnson, and Bryce Allgood.
Funeral services will be noon, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Southerland Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
