(26 June 1935 - 18 Nov. 2012)

Florence "Fran" Hanson Oechsle, 77, passed away after a long illness in the presence and in the thoughts of family on 18 Nov. 2012.

Born 26 June 1935 in Panama City, Florida, she was the youngest of seven children born to John and Eva Hanson. In 1961, Fran married then Capt Edward H. Oechsle and supported him tirelessly during his 30 year career in the United States Air Force. Together, they raised their four children at over ten different duty stations in the US and overseas. They later divorced, but remained friends until this final parting.

Fran had a passion for life. She would light up a room with her mere presence and her laugh was infectious. Her sense of humor has been passed on to her children and grandchildren and will forever live on as "Oechsle humor". She worked intermittently through her life in the service industry, including waitressing and clothing stores. She loved socializing with her customers and was always in high demand. Largely self taught, Fran was conversant on many subjects and enjoyed lively conversation. She went out of her way to say a kind word or to help others. From giving construction workers cool beverages to taking baked treats to military gate guards, Fran was well known for her generosity in the community and this legacy also lives on with her children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Claude and Rawlin, and sister Suzie.

Fran is survived by her children, Suzanne (Oechsle) and Mike Weaver of Casselberry, FL; John and Regina Oechsle of Layton, UT; Edward H. Oechsle II and Kathy Oechsle of Gatesville, TX and Mark and Tracy Oechsle of O'Fallon, IL; loving grandchildren Jenny (Oechsle) Heffner, Amanda Oechsle, Jason Oechsle, Erich Oechsle, Chelan Oechsle, Kerri Oechsle, and Isaac Oechsle; her first great grandchild is expected in January 2013. She is also survived by her brothers Jack Hanson of Panama City, Coriless and Beth Hanson of Lacy, WA, and her sister Jane Russell of Panama City.

At Fran's request, no public service will be held. Immediate family will travel to Panama City for a private celebration of her life and to return her earthly remains to the Gulf of Mexico.
