Mrs. Jewell Laverne Douglas Hill, 69, of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., went to be with Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, in Pensacola, Fla., after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 28, 1940, in Jasper, Fla., to Norman and Zelphia Perry Douglas.
Mrs. Hill was a resident of Walton County, Fla. She was Baptist by faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty. She enjoyed quilting and traveling. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her father, Norman Douglas; mother, Zelphia Green; daughter, Donna Kaye Hill; and brother, Wilson Douglas. Mrs. Hill is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert B. Hill of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; three sons, Robert B. Hill Jr. and wife, Donna, of Camp Verde, Ariz., David Hill of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Wayne Hill and wife, Melissa, of Navarre, Fla.; two daughters, Pamela Wood and husband, Ronald, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Brenda Winfree of Destin, Fla.; and a brother, Willie Douglas. She also is survived by 11 grandchildren, Kristie Groves, Wendy Delfiacco, Robbie Hill, Ryan Smith, Meghan Macias, TJ Sisk, Alicia Hill, Wayne Hill Jr., Cassie Buchanan, Tina Aune and Nicholas Wood; and nine great-grandchildren, Taylor, Renee, Stevie, Samantha, Melanie, Caylen, Cheyenne, Brienne and Payton.
A time of visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at the chapel of Clary-Glenn Funeral Home, 230 Park Ave., DeFuniak Springs, Fla. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Liberty. The Rev. Joel Glenn and the Rev. Howard Browning officiated. Graveside services will begin at 11 a.m. today, Sept. 9, 2009, in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. Active pallbearers are Wayne Hill Jr., Ryan Smith, Nicholas Wood, Ronald Wood, TJ Sisk and Al Winfree. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Glass, Rick Hall, James Summerlin, James Cecil Hall, Wayne Bodie, Matt Douglas, Hunter Page, David Green, David Earl Drake, Roger White, Ken Johnson and Danny Shaw.
