Julia Christine Fickle died on May 6, 2014 at 2:00PM at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida.
She was born July 16, 1943 in Galesburg, IL to Lloyd and Marion Hawkinson. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1961. She sang in the school choir and sextet. Julie spent the summers at Lake Bracken, boating and swimming. She attended Brown's Business College and Mid-State College.
Julie married George McGriff in 1961. They had two children together, Lloyd and Emmett McGriff. On June 2, 1974, Julie married John V. Fickle in Peoria, IL. While living in Peoria, she had a typing business and worked for a court reporter.
She moved to Monmouth, IL in 1985 and worked at People's Do-It Center as the bookkeeper until 2001. At that time, Julia and John moved to Cape Coral, FL. Julia worked in the office of S&S Land Management for five years.
Julia was preceded in death by her first husband, George McGriff, her parents, her second husband, John Fickle, two grandchildren and son, Brion (Donna) Fickle. She is survived by four sons and a daughter, Marc (Brenda) Fickle; Lloyd (Stephanie) McGriff; Mary (Kevin) Hamer; Emmett McGriff; and Sean Fickle; as well as 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Julia's hobbies were reading and doing cross stitch, playing and teaching piano. Julia was a baptized Jehovah's Witness since April 14, 2012. She truly enjoyed explaining to others her hope from The Bible.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 2:00PM at Kingdom Hall 424A Nicholas Parkway West.
