Lynda Sue Bryant, 67, of Indian Pass, Fla., passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2008, in a local hospital after a brave battle with lung cancer.

She was born in Jackson, Miss., on Dec. 28, 1940, and was later adopted by James and Lavaughn Bryant of Dandridge, Tenn., where she was raised. Lynda attended the University of Tennessee, becoming an avid Volunteers fan and receiving numerous awards from the university's athletic department. She lived for about 35 years in the Atlanta area, where she worked for and retired from Southern Living Magazine. After her retirement, she moved to Indian Pass in 1995.
Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Tom Roper of Indian Pass; and her sister-in-law, Liz Roper of Atlanta.
A service to celebrate Lynda's Christian life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Port St. Joe, Fla. Per Lynda's request, she will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor her life should give memorial contributions to either the American Cancer Society or to Covenant Hospice.
