Marvin Douglas Lewis, 78, USAF MSgt (Ret) of Panama City, passed away 27 Sept 2013 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Halifax County, VA, on 14 April 1935 to the late William and Dorothy (Guthrie) Lewis. He was preceded in death by parents; son Donald Bruce Lewis and brother, Thomas W. Lewis.
Marvin served 23 years in the United States Air Force and was a proud Vietnam veteran. Marvin was a life time member of Veteran of Foreign War (VFW) post 8205, AMVETS Post 2298, American Legion Post 356, a Disabled American Veterans and Charter Member of the Tyndall Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marie (Parker) Lewis, son Doug Lewis and his wife Melissa of Panama City Fl. He is also survived by his two wonderful grandchildren, Wiatt and Ethan, and his four legged companion Buster. Marvin was an accomplished outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, gardening, storytelling and living his life to the fullest. He will be missed.
His family will celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home with USAF Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors and friends from 10-11 a.m. just prior to the service.
