Richard J. "Dick" Kensy, 72, of Panama City Beach, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Covenant Hospice following a brief illness.

Dick was born to Kathryn and Ken Kensy and raised in Mamaroneck, NY. He served in the US Navy, and upon his discharge, met the love of his life, Jackie. He and Jackie would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May of this year. Dick and Jackie moved to Panama City Beach from Alexandria, VA in 2004, fulfilling their dream of retiring to his favorite place, buying a boat, and fishing.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jackie; his stepchildren, Lenny Rexrode (Ellen) of New York City, NY, Pam Tancredi of Panama City Beach, Kevin Rexrode (Chris) of Sweedlin Valley, WV, and Kimberly Rexrode Hudson (Tom) of Spring Hill, FL; his beloved grandchildren, Patrick Tancredi, Anna Tancredi, Emily Hudson, Tommy Hudson, and Erika Phipps; his sister, Noreen Mingey (Jim) of Panama City Beach, FL; two brothers, Ronald (Margie) of Danbury, CT and Robert (Susan) of Lakeland, FL; nieces Kelly, Deirdre, Katie and Aleah, nephew Tim, and grandnieces Erin and Megan. Dick is predeceased by his mom and dad and brothers Roger and Kenneth.

Throughout his life, Dick never met a stranger. His wife, family, and friends were most important to him. He was a very generous spirit, and could make you laugh no matter how you felt. He will be deeply missed by his family and so many friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. We invite you to join us in celebrating his life by relating some of your favorite memories of Dick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Anchorage Children's Home, or to a .
