Stanley M. Worsham, Sr., 98, of Panama City, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

He was born March 21, 1915 in Birmingham, Alabama. He earned a double degree in structural engineering & architecture from Auburn University-and was life-long supporter of the War Eagles where he received a Golden Eagle award. He started his engineering career with J.E. Sirrine in Greenville, South Carolina and received his military orders on his first day of a project assignment with them at in Panama City. After a year of engineering in Gainesville, Fl, he moved the family to Panama City to partner in business with Tom Daniels. Over the years he worked diligently with several different engineering firms, including J.B. Converse of Mobile, Al. He won numerous engineering awards including being made a 'Fellow Member of the Florida Engineering Society' by his peers. Stanley also journied to Peru with the Florida Eng. Society to help build and an aquaduct water system at the foot of the Andes.

He designed the second sanctuary of First Baptist after much research on a structure that would fit the unusual space available. He knows the church from inside the walls as well as out, and through the years was often called on for structural help. As an avid fisherman and life-long engineer, his last concept design project was at the age of 98 at Mathison Retirement Community to build an accessible fishing platform/deck at the fishpond behind the center so that the residents could catch brim.

He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the front lines infantry artillery in Pacific Theatre earning a Bronze Star with Valor and completed his service as Army Captain.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City for 57 years, where he served as a Deacon. After 73 years of marriage, he is survived by his wife, Mildred Worsham; three children, Sharon Worsham (Dr. David B. Dusenbery), Stanley M. Worsham, Jr, Noel F. Brannan (Dr. Pete Brannan); three grandchildren, Trey Worsham, Jeff Brannan (Carmen), Steven Brannan (Shannon); and five great grandchildren, Hailey & Bailey Brannan, Bo Brannan, Drake Brannan and Luke Brannan.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Panama City. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 – 3 p.m. prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Ted Haney, Jim Ray, Tony Harper, Marshall Flowers, Larry Morris, Dr. John Benton and Grover Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hentz and the Deacons of First Baptist Church of Panama City.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Mathison Retirement Community/Fish Pond Deck and Bench Fund, 3637 W Hwy 390, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Stanley Worsham.
