Thomas Earl Bannister, Jr., 64, of Panama City passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 due to complications from Agent Orange.

He was born in Eglin Air Force Base, Florida on July 2, 1949. He was a life-long resident of Bay County, FL. He was a 1967 graduate of Bay High School. After high school, he graduated from GCCC and the University of West Florida. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a successful career as a Chief Analysis Officer at TAFB, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Earl, and Callie Bannister.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gail; and son, Charlie Fischer (Teri) of Roswell, GA.; his brother, Joe (Vivian) Bannister; and his two nieces, Krista Gandy (Kenyon), and Amanda Bannister; and his nephew, Richard Bannister; all of Panama City, FL. He loved his two grandchildren, Chas and Cadee Fischer and a special grand-niece, Krystin Gandy. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Richard Walker, as well as all the physicians and staff of Nephrology and Associates; the wonderful nurses and staff of Clifford C. Sims State Veterans' Nursing Home and the doctors and staff at the Birmingham Veterans' Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 30 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Rascoe officiating. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside. The family will receive friends at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 – 8 p.m.

Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Childs, Ronnie Childs, Jr. Tommy Childs, Scott Colmere, Doug Lindsey, Joe Carl Lindsey, Mike Murphee, Val Padgett, Allen Sears and Mark Wall.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made the Pathway Christian Recovery Ministries (Panama City Rescue Mission), P.O. Box 2359, Panama City, FL 32402 to help homeless veterans.
