Victor Ceyx Allen, 93, of Lynn Haven, Fla., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 17, 2008.

Mr. Allen was born in Holmes County, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Florida. He was a school teacher and principal, a member of the first trainee group for the Florida Highway Patrol, was involved in several other law enforcement activities and owned and operated two grocery stores. He had a servant heart, and all his life, he was active in helping other people.

He is predeceased by his wife, Shirley Golden Allen; his parents, William Nind and Annie Jewel Allen; son, Vic Allen; brother, Howard Allen; and sister, Myrtle Steverson. Mr. Allen is survived by one son, Lamar Allen and his wife, Lou Ann, of Panama City, Fla.; one daughter, Iris Sexton and her husband, Ceaborn, of Panama City; daughter-in-law, Harriet Allen of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Gene Allen of Quincy, Fla., and his wife, Kathy; six grandchildren, Michelle Miller and husband, Kerry, Jimmy Allen and wife, KarenSue, Craig Allen, Sheila Sexton, Rodney Allen and wife, Cheryl, and Julie Doughty and husband, Earl; and eight great-grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Brandon Allen, Ian Allen, HannahLea Allen, Alexa Allen, Andrew Doughty, Caden Allen and Mark Doughty.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Daniel and the Rev. Rickey Baxley officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at the funeral home. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Allen, Craig Allen, Earl Doughty, Donald Steverson, Mike Allen and Harold Phillips. Honorary pallbearers are Luther McDonald, Wayne Jones, Hershel Holcomb, Bill Daughdrill, Ronnie Napier and the Rev. Dennis Pledger.
