Vivian Inez Reed Ashley, 56, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010.

She was born Aug. 24, 1954, in Panama City to the late Herman Joseph and Irene Reed.
Vivian lived in Bay County her entire life and attended Our Lady of Grace Catholic School. She graduated from Rutherford High School. She also attended Gulf Coast Community College and obtained an associate's degree in human services. Vivian was a dedicated member of Mount Calvary True Holiness Church. Viv, as she was affectionately known, had a special love for her only grandson. She loved God, her children, her family, her church, her church family and enjoyed participating in all church activities. Her philosophy was to help others, a principle she practiced daily. Vivian also believed in working, she was employed at Panama City Machinery, Bay Medical Center, Life Management Center, and Bay County District School System until her health declined.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and six siblings, Leola Williams, Bennie Reed, Willie Reed, Dorothy Ann Johnson, Arthur Paul Reed Sr., and Dewey Reed.
She will be sorely missed her loving children Shashunga (Eric) Clayton of Woodbridge, Va., and Robert Ashley Jr. of Tallahassee, Fla.; her most precious grandson, Eric Michael Clayton; two brothers, Herman (Pearlene) Reed and Elliot (Dreena) Reed of Panama City; two sisters, Flora Mae Carter of Hastings, Fla. and Susie Lee Mack of Panama City; two special friends, Ann Ganzy and Mary A. Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A celebration of Ms. Reed Ashley's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1942 E. Seventh St., with Bishop Gregory R. Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Redwood Cemetery with Battle Memorial Funeral Home directing. Viewing will begin at 1 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2010. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 3, 2010, at Battle Memorial Funeral Home, 1123 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Panama City, FL.
