Walter Herman Roberson (1929 - 2010)

Walter Herman Roberson of Port St. Joe, Fla., passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at a local hospital.

He was born May 13, 1929, to the late Herman and Leila Roberson in Luverne, Ala. He previously was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Montgomery, Ala., before moving to Port St. Joe in 1967, where he later became a member of Long Avenue Baptist Church. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. He was a local business owner and operator of Roberson's Grocery and Highland View Motors, Inc.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Clair Roberson of Port St. Joe, Fla.; two sons, Ralph C. Roberson (Margaret) of Port St. Joe, Fla., and Walter Kevin Roberson (Cheryl) of Oviedo, Fla.; two daughters, Selina Roberson Waller (Bill) of Lynn Haven, Fla., and Tamara Lynn Barnes of Lynn Haven; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Louis Bogliola (June) of Luverne, Ala.; and three sisters, Mary Lee Mardis of Millbrook, Ala., Mabelene Roberson of Ozark, Ala., and Carrie Martin of Pensacola, Fla.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. EST Friday, March 12, 2010, at Long Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Royce C. Williams Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Chris Roberson, Matt Roberson, Lee Waller, Blake Barnes, Brett Barnes, Nancy-Clair Roberson and Karen Waller. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. EST Thursday, March 11, 2010, at the church.
