Remembering the life, death, and gifts of Janie Frances Legg, 76 of Panama City, Florida, who passed away peacefully, on March 5, 2014.

Janie touched many lives while working at Commercial Bank where she could always be counted on to mentor anyone who needed it. She had a sharp mind for business and played an integral role in three family businesses. Her quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to her family and friends, but woe be to you if she ever referred to you as "friend"; that is how you knew you were in trouble.

Janie was a talented cook who loved family gatherings. Arguments have been known to break out over the last piece of her pound cake. As an avid reader friends and family never needed to buy a book or get a library card as her own library was quite extensive. When she wasn't reading she could be found watching one of her favorite mystery shows (either Matlock or Murder, She Wrote) or shopping, usually for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her steady smile, giving nature, and her dedication to her family.

Janie leaves behind the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Jimmie E. Legg, Senior, her four cherished children, Terry Pim (Danny), Cynthia Shelton (Joel), Jimmie Legg, Jr. (Terri), and David Legg (Stacey), her 10 treasured grandchildren, Billy Pim, Peter Pim, Brian Shelton, Brandi Poston, Jennifer Sistrunk, Samantha Chapman, Brittany Legg, Mason Legg, Abbigail Legg, Braden Legg, and her nine precious great-grandchildren Lilly Pim, Billy Andrew Pim, Bryce Shelton, Logan Shelton, Alexandra Poston, Arabella Poston, Eli Sistrunk, Ethan Sistrunk, and Payton Legg. As well as, her dear siblings Elizabeth Crowder (Robert) and Jimmy Smith (Beverly).

Janie was preceded in death by her mother and father Lillie Mae and Ottis Smith and by her brother Jerry Smith.

Services to honor the life and love that was Janie Legg will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10 – 11 a.m. prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Janie Legg.
