Thomas Joseph "Tom" Ionescu, 64, of Lynn Haven, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at a local hospital.

Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA and lived in Bay County since 2003, moving here from Willow Grove, PA. Tom was a diesel mechanic for many years, and was a US Army veteran of Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, the DAV, and the American Muscle Car Club of America. Tom enjoyed drag racing, restoring classic cars, and was especially fond of "Bow Ties" (Chevrolets).

Survivors include his wife, Cathy A. Ionescu of Lynn Haven; his sons, Tom Ionescu (Michelle) of Browns Mills, NJ, Chris Ionescu of Croydon, PA, Daniel Ionescu (Natasha) of Levittown, PA, and Billy Rice of Lynn Haven; a sister, Cathy Olmedo (Julio) of Philadelphia, PA; and his grandchildren, Diane, Tommy, and Chris.

A memorial gathering hosted by the American Muscle Car Club to honor Tom will be held tonight at Friday Fest on Harrison Avenue near McKenzie Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's memory may be made to the Disabled Veterans of America.
