Harry Lester Jones, SGM (E-9), US Army, retired, 87 yrs, of Panama City, Fla., passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at his home. SGM Jones was born in Americus, Ga. He was drafted into the US Army in April, 1945, and was a Veteran of WWII, Korea, and Viet-Nam, retiring at the rank of Sergeant Major after 30 years and eight months of military Service. SGM Jones served in the Special Forces, the 11th, 82nd, and 101st Airborne Divisions, and was a member of the Green Beret. He served two tours of combat in Viet-Nam, and was awarded the Bronze Star (1OLC), Viet-Nam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and numerous other medals and awards.

He is preceded in death by his first Wife, Mrs. Annelise C. Jones, maiden name Kerbaum.

Survivors include his wife of 28 1/2 years, Mrs. Carin H. Jones, maiden name Streibl, of Panama City, Fla., his daughters, Mrs. Charlotte A. Wade of Maryland, Mrs. Susan K. Jones (husband Robert J. Jones) of Panama City, Fla., and Rosemary Glover (husband CMSG Carl B. Glover) of Maryland; a stepson, Mr. Marcus Streibl, living as an American citizen and former US Army serviceman in Munich, Germany; granddaughters Alicia Wade and Stephanie Gaffney, great-granddaughter Annelise Bailey and great-grandson Connor White.

Graveside funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Craig Brannon officiating. Interment with full military honors by the US Army Honor Guard will follow.
